The problem
DPG Media is a leading media company in Belgium, The Netherlands, and Denmark. They decided to launch HLN Live, Belgium's first 24/7 digital news channel. They designed and launched automated production studios, the "Live Sets".
DPG Media needed a solution to streamline its operations while optimizing costs. It also had to keep producing high-quality content.
The traditional approach was labour-intensive and expensive, especially when technical teams were required for each production.
DPG Media needed to find a way to empower their journalists, who would take charge of all content creation, from editorial to production and delivery. DPG Media needed an audio mixer that would "talk" to the other elements of the studio to guarantee a dynamic setup.
Solution
DPG Media wanted to build the project in-house and naturally selected Artisto for the audio part. A key factor in that decision was Artisto's comprehensive API, allowing them to easily integrate the various parts of their software workflow.
It was important for DPG that the journalists could focus on the content side and not on the technical aspects. To achieve that goal, they abstracted all the complexities. The sole interface for the journalists is the rundown from Cuez that integrates all content types (prompter, playout, remote contribution…). Cuez then, in turn, integrates Artisto's API and drives the audio engine.
The setup is available 24/7, allowing DPG to operate the HLN Live portal with only 3 journalists and no dedicated technical crew.
